VidMaker Third-Party Notices
============================

VidMaker includes third-party software. Each component remains subject to its
own license. VidMaker's commercial license does not replace or restrict those
licenses.

macOS corresponding source and helper modification
--------------------------------------------------
The complete FFmpeg 7.1.5 source and offline helper rebuild recipe for this
macOS distribution are available from the same download location:
https://vidmaker.amsterdam-technologies.com/releases/VidMaker-0.4.32-ffmpeg-macos-source.tar.xz
The packaged FFMPEG-SOURCE.json records its checksum and helper association.
FFMPEG-REBUILD.txt explains rebuilding, replacement and local re-signing.
Any VidMaker restriction on modification or reverse engineering does not
restrict modification of these separate helpers for the recipient's own use
or reverse engineering for debugging those modifications (LGPL-2.1 section 6).
This source companion covers macOS; it does not establish fulfillment for
the additional statically linked Windows/Linux dependency closures.

FFmpeg and ffprobe 7.1.5 (macOS)
--------------------------------
The macOS application bundles FFmpeg and ffprobe built from the official FFmpeg
7.1.5 source release:

https://ffmpeg.org/releases/ffmpeg-7.1.5.tar.xz
SHA-256: de668509caf9e35e3cd162473441fdb29538c6d96ed080292b3cf9e6fc5d558f

Each arm64 and x86_64 slice is built for macOS 13 with this configuration
(<arch> is respectively arm64 or x86_64), then combined with lipo:

--target-os=darwin --arch=<arch> --cc=clang --disable-shared --enable-static
--disable-doc --disable-debug --disable-autodetect --disable-x86asm
--disable-gpl --disable-nonfree --disable-version3 --enable-videotoolbox
--enable-audiotoolbox --enable-zlib
--extra-cflags="-arch <arch> -mmacosx-version-min=13.0"
--extra-ldflags="-arch <arch> -mmacosx-version-min=13.0"

This configuration does not enable GPL or nonfree components and does not use
libx264 or libx265. FFmpeg is primarily LGPL-2.1-or-later. The application
includes the upstream terms as FFMPEG-LICENSE.txt. Corresponding source is
available at:
https://ffmpeg.org/legal.html
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/lgpl-2.1.html
https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/tree/n7.1.5

FFmpeg and ffprobe 7.1.5 (Windows and Linux)
--------------------------------------------
The Windows and Linux packages bundle FFmpeg and ffprobe built from the same
FFmpeg 7.1.5 source release, statically linked, with this configuration:

--disable-shared --enable-static --disable-doc --disable-debug
--disable-autodetect --disable-gpl --disable-nonfree --disable-version3
--enable-libopenh264 --enable-zlib

macOS encodes H.264 with VideoToolbox, which these platforms do not have, so
they use libopenh264 instead. No GPL or nonfree component is enabled, and
libx264 and libx265 are not present. The exact configure line of the shipped
binary is included in each package as FFMPEG-BUILDCONF.txt. Corresponding
source is available at:
https://ffmpeg.org/releases/ffmpeg-7.1.5.tar.xz
https://ffmpeg.org/legal.html
https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/tree/n7.1.5
The build script is scripts/build-ffmpeg-static.sh in the VidMaker repository.

OpenH264 2.6.0
--------------
The Windows and Linux FFmpeg builds link the Cisco OpenH264 library, built from
source:
https://github.com/cisco/openh264/archive/refs/tags/v2.6.0.tar.gz
SHA-256: 558544ad358283a7ab2930d69a9ceddf913f4a51ee9bf1bfb9e377322af81a69

OpenH264 is distributed under the BSD 2-Clause license, included in each
package as OPENH264-LICENSE.txt. Cisco's offer to pay H.264 royalties covers
the binary modules Cisco itself distributes and does NOT extend to a library
built from source, as these packages do.

Downloaded FFmpeg (fallback only)
---------------------------------
The direct-distribution edition can still download prebuilt FFmpeg artifacts on
a platform with no bundled binary. Every published package bundles its own, so
that path is not used by any current download. Those artifacts are the pinned
ffmpeg-static b6.1.1 release, which is GPL:
https://github.com/eugeneware/ffmpeg-static/releases/tag/b6.1.1
https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/tree/n6.1.1

The Mac App Store edition does not download executable code; it uses only the
signed FFmpeg 7.1.5 binaries included in its app bundle.

FFmpeg and codec copyright licenses do not grant patent licenses. Encoding or
distributing H.264/AVC, AAC, HEVC, or other patented formats may require a
separate license depending on jurisdiction and use.

Other components
----------------
Complete versioned copyright, permission and NOTICE texts for the runtime
dependencies accompany this application in legal/THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt.
They include React, Material UI, Motion, Zod and Wails. WaveSurfer 7.12.1 is
still declared in the frontend manifest but is not emitted by the current
bundle graph; its full BSD 3-Clause notice is retained for legacy coverage.

No affiliation with or endorsement by any third-party licensor is implied.

Independent JPEG Group
----------------------
This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.
The full IJG conditions accompany this application as FFMPEG-IJG-NOTICE.txt.
